Celebrating Christmas Mini-Book

1 of 1

In the beauty and decorations of Christmas, we can remember what makes this time of year special—we are celebrating the birth of Jesus. The decorations we place around our homes can remind us of Jesus and the gift God gave in sending Him to earth so long ago.

Christmas Tree
Just like a tree offers shelter and protection, God watches over His children. He is like an evergreen tree. Our blessings come from Him.1

Nativity Scene
The nativity scene reminds us of the ultimate gift we were given at Christmas—Jesus—and all those who were a part of that special day.

Angels
We remember the angel messengers that God sent the night of Jesus’ birth to announce the good news of His birth.

Christmas Lights
Christmas lights remind us that Jesus is the light of the world. He brings light and love into our lives and hearts.

Star
The star at the top of the Christmas tree reminds us of the star that led the wise men to Jesus. It proclaims Jesus as the light of the world—a shining light that guides all to Him.

Snowflakes
A snowflake can remind us of how God pays attention to even the smallest details of His creation. If God cares for even the small parts of His creation, we can be certain that God knows and cares for even the smallest of His children.

Candy Cane
The candy cane is like the staff a shepherd uses to guide and care for his sheep. It reminds us that God is a caring shepherd who looks after us, His little sheep.

Wreath
The wreath is shaped as a circle and has no beginning or end. This gives us an example of God’s love for us, which is eternal and never-ending.

Gifts
When we give presents to others, or we give of our time to make someone happy, we remember the gifts that the wise men brought to Jesus on that night long ago. Gifts are a way that we share joy with others.

Dove
The dove reminds us of God’s Holy Spirit and the peace that comes from having God in our lives.

Bells
In olden days, the city or church bells were rung in celebration when something wonderful had taken place. Jesus’ birth was a marvelous event, and at Christmas we celebrate the arrival of Jesus, God’s gift of love.

7 Days of Christmas Cheer

1 of 4

Do you wonder what you can do to spread a little Christmas cheer at this special time of year? You can use this plan to bring the joy of Christmas to your family and friends. Ask someone to help you print out these different activities, then work your way through them during this Christmas season.

Have a joy-filled Christmas!

Day 1
Use these “Christmas Card Frames” to make Christmas cards for your family and friends. Pick the frame you want to use, print it out, and color it. Then draw a picture inside the center or glue a picture of you and your family for a Christmas card of your own creation.

Day 2
Create a “Christmas Gratitude Tree.” Write down things you are grateful for and place them on the tree. See how many baubles of gratitude you can add to your tree by Christmas Day.

Day 3
Do you wonder what gifts you can give this Christmas? Make this “Christmas Giving Wheel,” and then spin it to find out what activity you can do to give love and kindness to Jesus and others.

Day 4
Make a “Christmas Paper Stocking” for someone. Keep small papers and a pen nearby. When you have an idea for a kind deed or kind thought that you would like to give to the person whose name is on the stocking, write it on a piece of paper and slip it in the stocking. On Christmas Day give the stocking to the person so he or she can discover what treasures are inside.

Day 5
Print out and color the “Nativity Finger Puppets,” then use them to retell the story of the first Christmas to your family and friends.

Day 6
Make a “Christmas Paper Chain.” Print out and color the chain pieces, and don’t forget to create some of your own. String them together to fashion a Christmas chain you can use to decorate your bedroom.

Day 7
Print out and color “A Child Is Born.” When you have finished coloring it, post it somewhere other people can see, like the refrigerator door, so they too can be reminded of God’s gift of love—Jesus—that we celebrate at Christmas.
