“Can We See God?” Supplement (God-1a)

To help reinforce the article “Can We See God?”—and illustrate how even though we can’t see God, we still know He’s there—go outside and try to look at the wind or breeze. Ask your child to explain how he or she can tell the wind is or isn’t there?

If you live in a place where the stars are clearly visible at night, take time to look up and enjoy this declaration of God’s glory!

Tell your child of loving deeds he or she has done for you that has helped you “see” God.

"God Is Powerful!” Supplement (God-1a)

Here are some things you can talk about or do with your child to help reinforce the article “God Is Powerful!”:

Ask your child what he or she considers to be awesomely powerful. Then take a moment to imagine how God is even greater than that power.

For a fun way to help your child see the power of God’s creative force at work in a seed, try sprouting a seed in a wet paper towel or wet cotton balls. In “Book Bonanza: Going Exploring” we encourage youngsters to read a book or article featuring a culture they’re interested in learning about. Getting Started

Welcome to My Wonder Studio, a place where we present Christian life and faith and character-building principles through captivating texts and audio and visual presentations.

There are three sections in My Wonder Studio with content created for children, as represented by some of the tabs at the top of our site: 0–5, Level 1, Level 2. And two sections—Parents and Teachers and Scope and Sequence—with content directed at parents, teachers, and Christian educators. In this post we’ll present an overview of the sections and the concept behind them.

  • 0–5 contains simple Christian and character-building materials for toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Level 1 targets beginner concepts on Christian life and faith and character building.
  • Level 2 focuses on intermediate concepts on Christian life and faith and character building.
  • Parents and Teachers is where you can find posts with ideas on how to use the content on My WonderStudio with your children.
  • Scope and Sequence provides parents and teachers with a list of learning objectives for topics under Christian life and faith and character-building principles.

We have refrained from strictly designating Levels 1 and 2 with a set age bracket, as each child is unique, and will be at different levels of learning and growth. For example, while a child may be advanced when it comes to knowledge of Christian life and faith concepts, he or she may need to focus on learning various character-building principles, and therefore would benefit from Level 1 (beginner concepts) as well as Level 2 (intermediate concepts), albeit in different topics. You should also feel free to advance your child up a level if you feel that your child is able to grasp a more advanced explanation of a topic, or that your child is generally at the next level of understanding and maturity.

Introduction to “Christian Life and Faith Scope and Sequence” and “Character Building Scope and Sequence”

What Is a Scope and Sequence?

A “scope and sequence” is generally defined as the content overview of a curriculum or course. The “scope” articulates the learning objectives—the information or skills that are to be taught on a given subject, and the “sequence” is the order in which you teach the information. A “learning objective” is commonly defined as “any fact, technique or other outcome that a student is expected to learn or achieve at the end of a specific course of instruction.”

Objectives greatly assist the planning process for teachers. The foundation for well-planned teaching is, unquestionably, clearly stated objectives. … In terms of the teaching role, objectives provide the opportunity for teachers to formulate and, it is hoped, act upon, clear statements about what students are intended to learn through instruction.

Our Aim

Our aim in creating these two scope and sequences presented on this site is to provide parents, teachers, and Christian educators with a comprehensive outline, articulating what a child should learn regarding Christian life and faith and character-building concepts from the ages of 6 through to 12. Material posted to Levels 1 and 2 of My Wonder Studio is based off of and linked to learning objectives within these scope and sequences. (At the end of any article/post on My Wonder Studio, you will find “S&S,” which links you to the learning objective that the article/post targets.)
