Note to parent or teacher: Here is a 20- to 30-minute lesson plan on the following lesson objective: “Learn how to employ the power of prayer by evoking the spiritual promises that God has given through His Word; study Bible verses on God’s promises to hear and answer prayer.” (Christian Life and Faith: A Personal Connection with Jesus: Prayer-1f)

Read Thought Power” and think of times during the day when one could turn a thought into prayer. Talk about the types of prayers one could send up in those situations.

Understand how when you are on the go, simple prayers are good, like the simple prayers on page 7. However, when you are able to devote more time to prayer, you can include more in the prayer, such as praise, a Bible promise, and more specifics about the request.

ReadThink to Jesus.”

ReadPrayer Pointers.” To portray an unfocused prayer, tell the children a short story about something that took place, but do it while you are running around the room, including going in and out of the room. Ask the children if they understood the story. Then repeat the story while standing or sitting still and looking at the children. Ask the children which version of the story was easiest to understand.

Memorize a verse from “Crazily Cool Card Set: Prayer” and / or review the verses already memorized from this set.

Brainstorm a list of things that would be worthwhile to pray for in advance.

Assemble a “Prayer Pointers Die.” Take turns rolling the die and praying for a prayer request using the method that comes up on the die—“Praying on Target,” “Praying with Joy,” “Praying in Advance.”

Remember to claim a promise for your prayer requests. Having a set of Crazily Cool Cards on hand can be helpful in finding Bible promises to claim in prayer, especially “All My Needs,” “Prayer,” “Hearing from Jesus,” and “Want Some Power,” but don’t be limited to these subjects.

Create a “Prayer Flower” for a member of your family or for a friend. Post this in a place where you will be reminded to pray for the requests on the flower.

Wrap up your class with Pray a Way: Friends and Loved Ones.
