イエス様 : 神であり 人間でも ある

Jesus, as the Word, has always been part of God from the beginning.

“Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him” (John 1:1–3 ERV).

When Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth as a baby, He became fully human. However, though He was fully human, He also continued to be God.

“The Word became a man and lived among us” (John 1:14 ERV).

Jesus came to us in a human body, starting out as a baby, growing into a child, and finally growing into an adult man.

The angel told the shepherd, “This is how you will know him: You will find a baby wrapped in pieces of cloth and lying in a feeding box” (Luke 2:12 ERV).

“When Jesus was twelve years old, they went to the festival as usual” (Luke 2:42 ERV). (The full story can be found in
Luke 2:41–52.)

Most of the accounts of Jesus’ life in the Bible center around events during His adult life and the time He spent teaching His disciples.

Jesus had the same human needs that you and I have. For example, He would get tired and hungry.

“Early the next morning, Jesus was going back to the city. He was very hungry” (Matthew 21:18 ERV).

“Jesus was tired from his long trip, so he sat down beside the well” (John 4:6 ERV).

After Jesus died and was resurrected, He continued to be human as well as God. Even though Jesus died 2,000 years ago, and therefore is not walking in His human body amongst us on earth, Jesus is still human. And He is still God.

We know that Jesus is still human because after He had died and was resurrected, He appeared to some of the women who followed Him, and then later He appeared to some of His disciples, both times in His recognizable body.

“So the women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell his followers what happened. Suddenly, Jesus was there in front of them. He said, ‘Hello!’ The women went to him and, holding on to his feet, worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid. Go tell my followers to go to Galilee. They will see me there’” (Matthew 28:8–10 ERV).
That same evening the followers were together. They had the doors locked because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly Jesus was standing there in front of them. He said, ‘Peace be with you!’ As soon as he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. When the followers saw the Lord, they were very happy” (John 20:19–20 ERV).

That’s the amazing truth about Jesus, He is both God and man. And for all eternity, He will continue to be fully God and fully man. Because of that, Jesus is able to understand our lives and our challenges. He is able to relate to our needs, and He knows how to best help us.

We can always trust Jesus to understand and to manifest great love in His wonderful loving care of us!
