Instructions:

• Cut out the template along the solid lines.
• Fold the card in half along the dotted line, then cut along the lines in the center of the card to create three tabs.
• Open up and bend tabs through to the inside of the card. (See sample assembly.)
• If using the black-and-white characters, first color three of the characters that you will use in your card (e.g., Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus), then cut out your chosen characters.
• Attach the characters you cut out to one of the tabs.
• Select a color of cardstock, then cut the cardstock with a border that is 1 cm larger on all edges than the tabbed template. Fold it in the center for a cover to the template
• Glue the template to the cut piece of cardstock, but make sure not to glue the tabs or they will not “pop out” when you open the card.
• Write “Merry Christmas” or another Christmas greeting on the cover of your card, and add your own decorations to it. (You can also use some of the other characters from this activity to decorate the cover of your card.)
• Give the card as a Christmas gift to one of your friends or family.

Note: You can also create your own tabbed insert to replace the template, and make it larger or smaller so you can add more or fewer pop-up tabs.
