Note to parent or teacher: This 15-minute lesson plan highlights the following lesson objective: “Study the fruit of the Spirit: Gentleness.” (Christian Life and Faith: Biblical and Christian Foundation: The Fruits of the Spirit-2h)
Read “Power-Up Devotional #11: Spirit Fruit: Gentleness and Meekness.” Do the action point on page 7.
Talk about what gentleness and meekness look like. Ask the children if they can think of a time when they saw someone display gentleness, meekness, or humility.
Read “The Benefits of Humility.”
Brainstorm with the children the many benefits there are when one is behaving with gentleness, meekness, and humility. Conversely, list times when it’s easy to act in a prideful manner, and discuss alternative meek or humble reactions to such times.
Memorize the verse 1 Peter 5:5.
Read “The Purple Hat.” Talk together about reasons why being meek suits the character, Toshgi, and how that attribute benefits him and those who know him.
