Note to the parent or teacher: This is the fourth in a series of lesson plans to encourage the children’s appreciation for the beautiful world God has created and placed us in. This 60- to 90-minute lesson plan is to supplement the three articles of “The Creation of the World” series: “God Created Man,” “The Garden of Eden,” and “God Created Woman.” This could be one class or it could be divided into two classes if time is devoted to the art activities included. See the “*” denoting the place where this lesson plan can be divided.
This highlights the lesson objectives:
Read “God Created Man” and “God Created Woman.”
Ask the children to express some of the positive traits of their various family members and friends. If time allows, they can branch out to include others in this discussion, such as various community members they know: schoolteachers, store clerks, neighbors, waiters, etc. End this discussion with a short prayer of praise for and appreciation for the people mentioned.
Read “A Thought for the Day: God’s Creation Teaches.”
Read “Namba’s Rock.”
Arrange a time to watch either a sunrise or a sunset, including times of praise for this beautiful world we’ve been placed in! (You could also listen together to “Be Praised” for a song that stirs one to praise God for creation and all He’s done for us.)
Read “Psalm 8.”
Color the “Coloring Page: The Creation of the World: God Created Man,” or cut out and assemble “3D Picture: The Creation of the World: God Created Man.”
Color the “Coloring Page: The Creation of the World: God Created Woman” or cut out and assemble “3D Picture: The Creation of the World: God Created Woman.”
Read “The Garden of Eden.”
Read “I Made It All for You.”
Talk about how even though we aren’t living in the Garden of Eden, we are still able to enjoy God’s beautiful creation. Ask the children what other contrasts they can think of along the same theme as the ones mentioned in “I Made It All for You.”
Read the first six verses of “Psalm 19.”
Read “Creation + You and Me.”
Listen to or read “The Rotunda of Heavenly Vision.” You can also plan a time to sit or lie outside gazing at the stars, clouds, treetops, or another aspect of creation while listening to this audio.
Read “A Thought for the Day: Caring for God’s Earth.”
Listen to “A Love Song to the Earth” or another song of your choice about protecting the beautiful world God has placed us in.
Pray along with “A Prayer for the Earth.”
Color the “Coloring Page: The Creation of the World: The Garden of Eden” or cut out and assemble “3D Picture: The Creation of the World: The Garden of Eden.”
