Level 2 Lesson Plan: A Time to Celebrate Love
Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Here is a 30- to 40-minute lesson plan that highlights the following lesson objective: “Understand that generosity is not only about giving money or material goods to others, sometimes it’s also a matter of giving of oneself to others—one’s time, skills, compassion, etc.” (Character Building: Values and Virtues: Generosity-2c)

Talk about how Christmas is a great time to celebrate love. Bring to your child’s attention that love should be celebrated all year round, but Christmas is a reminder of the wonderful love God manifested for us by sending Jesus to earth to teach us how to love freely and from the heart. At Christmas we can celebrate this love by being generous and taking the time to find a need and being the one to fill it. Celebrating love and giving to others can bring great joy to one’s heart.

Listen toAudio: The Tailor’s Secret.”

Talk about how giving, in this instance, brought Klaus and the children joy in return. Because Christmas is often a time when people get to be with their families, it can also be a lonely time for those who do not have families to celebrate with. Use examples if you have heard? of people who might feel extra lonely or sad during this time. That’s why it’s important for us to also take time to think about others, to consider who may need some attention and thoughtfulness during the Christmas season.
