Note to parent or Teacher: Here is a 20- to 30-minute lesson plan that highlights the lesson objectives: “Be able to list benefits of Scripture memorization,” and “learn of methods and tips to become a student of the Word, such as memorization, Bible skills and knowledge, and practical study tips.” (Christian Life and Faith: Biblical and Christian Foundation: God’s Word-1d,e)
Read “Remember Roy!”
Talk together about how when making decisions or needing guidance, often a memory verse or a Bible story will come to mind to give guidance that is helpful. Bring up examples of this in your children’s lives or your own.
Read “Memorizing God’s Word” and bring out how Jesus will often use the Bible verses we’ve memorized to speak to us and guide us throughout our lives.
Read “Take a Vitamin.”
Look up and talk about these verses on the importance of God’s Word: Psalm 37:31, Psalm 40:8, Psalm 119:11, and Psalm 119:105.
Read “Bright Pebbles: A Hidden Treasure.”
Choose a verse from “Crazily Cool Card Set: God’s Word” or “Crazily Cool Card Set: God’s Word, 2” to color and memorize (or review).
Tips for use of the “Crazily Cool Cards”: After printing (on cardstock or thicker paper for durability) and cutting and coloring (and memorizing, of course), you can save your “Crazily Cool Cards” in a card holder. Other ideas you can use these for are as bookmarks, pasting into your Word notebook, sending to a friend, plastering onto your bedroom wall, posting as fridge decorations … you get the idea!
