Here is a lesson plan that can be covered in 20 to 30 minutes, highlighting the lesson objectives:

• Study God’s many promises in the Bible to heal when one is sick; read biblical accounts of miracles of healing. (Christian Life and Faith: Spiritual Insight and Awareness: Healing-1a)
• Learn that God is one’s Creator, and it’s within His power to heal. (Christian Life and Faith: Spiritual Insight and Awareness: Healing-1b)
• Learn how God uses doctors and other health professionals to help treat illness or gain a better understanding of one’s body and its needs. (Christian Life and Faith: Spiritual Insight and Awareness: Healing-1c)

Read “Jesus Understands When You’re Sick.” To help your children understand how different things were when Jesus was here on earth, ask them what other things they can think of that might have been different for Jesus as a boy. For example, He didn’t use a toothbrush and toothpaste bought at a supermarket.

Read “Faith-filled Models from the New Testament: Jairus and his daughter.” Read the full story in Mark 5:22–24, 35–43, or Luke 8:41–42, 49–55.

Read “Standing on God’s Word: God’s Healing Touch.”

Read “Jesus Is with You!” Relating back to “Standing on God’s Word: God’s Healing Touch,” talk with the children about how if Brendan had received an injury requiring attention, he would have been taken to see a doctor, and then Jesus would have been there alongside the doctor and nurses who cared for him.

Ask the children for stories about the times and ways Jesus has helped them through their accidents or illnesses.

Choose a verse from “Crazily Cool Cards Set: God’s Healing Power” to color, memorize, or review.
