Note to parent or teacher: Here is a 20-minute continuation of a 0–5 lesson plan published in 2012 on the importance of good manners. (See “Your Manners Matter” for the first lesson plan on this topic.)
Read “Bright Pebbles: Be Like Jesus.” Do the action on the last page.
Read “In a Robin’s Nest.”
Watch “Please and Thank You with Little Mandy Manners.”
Watch “I Like to Be Polite.”
Have your children think of ways they can be more courteous in their daily lives. Help them write out a list. If you like, illustrate and color it, and place it somewhere visible throughout the day.
Watch “If You’ll Be Kind to Others.”
Read “The Little Gentleman.”
Discuss why it is important to have good manners and to be thinking of others. [Answer: Good manners show kindness, respect, consideration of others, and as a result, they are a reflection of Jesus that others see in us.]
Have your children think of some act of good manners, courtesy, or kindness that they have been shown recently and have them thank that person for it.
