Note to parent or teacher: Here’s a 20-minute lesson plan on prayer and talking with Jesus.
Listen to the song “Say a Little Prayer.”
Read “Bright Pebbles: A Special Kind of Treasure Hunt.”
Read the story “The Miracle Ride.”
Recount a time when Jesus answered a prayer that you or your child prayed.
Read the story “The Little Red Bus.”
Discuss how just like mothers and fathers on earth love to give their children good gifts, our heavenly Father loves to do the same for us. Jesus tells us, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11 NLT).
Look up and read Psalm 100:4. (“Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” NLT) Talk about how we should begin our prayers with thanks to Jesus for all that He does for us; discuss why this makes our prayers more powerful.
Watch “The Lord’s Prayer.” (Up to 1:17.)
Pray a praise prayer thanking Jesus for being our heavenly Father and always supplying our needs.
