Note to parent or teacher: Here’s a 20- to 30-minute class on Jesus’ healing power. It highlights the following lesson objective: Study God’s many promises in the Bible to heal when one is sick; read Biblical accounts of miracles of healing. (Christian Life and Faith: Spiritual Insight and Awareness: Healing-1a)
(If you’d like to add more to this lesson plan, there are a variety of stories on healing that can be found in children’s Bible storybooks, such as the story of Lazarus, the healing of the blind man, the 10 lepers, and others.)
The general target age for this lesson plan is 3 through to 6. You can adapt, simplify, or expound on this lesson plan to better suit your child’s comprehension level.
Read “Bright Pebbles: Jesus Heals Me.” After reading this article, act out the “action” at the end of the slideshow.
Watch “Video: Back to Life.” Watch the video and then talk about times when the child has been sick and Jesus helped him or her get better.
Color “Coloring Book: Tiny Bible Treasures: Back to Life.” This book has many pages and does not need to be colored all in one sitting. If you wish, you could first create the booklet with your child, color the first one or two pages, and save the rest of the coloring for later, or have your child complete it in his/her own time.
Listen to “Audio: Talitha Cumi.” Children can listen to the audio while they do the preceding or following coloring project.
Learn the poem “God Made My Body.” More coloring pages for children who like to color.
Look up the following Bible verses with your children: Acts 9:34a, and Isaiah 40:29.
Listen to “My Little Thoughts on God: God of Miracles.”
Memorize Isaiah 40:29 NLT.
Discussion questions: Can you think of other times in the Bible when Jesus healed people?
Prayer: End with a prayer of praise to Jesus for times He has healed you and your family and friends.
