Note to parent or teacher: Here is a 30-minute 0–5 lesson plan on God’s healing power and the things that can be learned during times of affliction.
Read “In Times of Sickness.”
Talk about a time when your child was sick and the things he or she might have learned during that time. Did it help him or her to appreciate good health, have more compassion for others who are unwell, or want to follow guidelines for healthy living better next time?
Read “God’s Healing Touch.”
Recall some of the stories in the Bible where someone was healed, and talk about how those miracles of healing might have changed the person’s life for the better.
Read “Bright Pebbles: God’s Power to Heal.”
Watch “Blind Bartimaeus.”
Create and color “Coloring Book: Blind Bartimaeus.” This book has many pages and does not need to be colored all in one sitting. If you wish, you could first create the booklet with your child, color the first one or two pages, and save the rest of the coloring for later, or have your child complete it during his or her own time.
Take one of your stuffed animals and pretend that it is sick. Can you think of something that would cheer up your animal and help it feel better? Maybe a soft blanket to keep it warm, a game to cheer it up, or a lullaby to be soothed by. The lesson with this activity being that Jesus lovingly cares for you, too, whenever you are sick.
