Note to parent or teacher: Here is a 30-minute 0–5 lesson plan on how children can appreciate and care for the world around them.
Read “A Big, Wide, and Wonderful World.”
Discuss your favorite parts of nature; for example, whether it’s the ocean, the mountains, particular biomes, animals, or different types of plants. Then take some time to thank Jesus for His beautiful creation.
Watch “It’s a Beautiful World.”
Talk about some of the ways you can help to take care of the world around you. Are there ways you can help out in your community, such as picking up rubbish or taking good care of public property?
Read “How Can You Make a Difference?”
Watch “Color Your World with Kindness.”
Have the children create a picture of a kind deed he or she can do to help someone or better the community. Then write the following quote under or above the picture, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”1 Post the picture somewhere as a reminder of how you can make a difference in your part of the world.
