Sadhu Chellappa, a distinguished Indian evangelist, was on a mission trip to a village north of Chennai. In the middle of the night, he suddenly sensed God speaking to him.
Jesus: Leave this house quickly and run away!
Chellappa thinking: I sense God speaking to me. …
Chellappa: What? Now? But I just got into bed. …
Jesus: Yes. Now!
This was not exactly a convenient thing to do, but Chellappa was used to accepting even strange instructions from the Lord without discussion. So, he quickly dressed and ran into the darkness.
Chellappa: Right … sorry…
Chellappa: Here, Lord?
Jesus: Not yet.
Chellappa: Here, Lord…?
Jesus: Not yet.
Chellappa: HERE, LORD?!
Jesus: Not yet.
Chellappa: HERE, LORD?
Jesus: HERE!
Jesus: Now, start to preach.
Chellappa: To the tree?!
Jesus: Yes, to the tree.
Wisdom in a box…
"The first catalyst of miracles is simple obedience."—James Rutz, Writer, Lecturer, Sayer of Profound Things.
And now back to our story.
Chellappa: Why do You want me to preach to an empty tree in the middle of the field in the middle of the night?
Jesus: Trust Me on this one. …
And so, he preached.
Chellappa: So now, who would like to accept Jesus into their life?
Voice from tree: I would!
More wisdom … in a longer box…
“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3 ESV).
Man in tears: I would like to give my life to Jesus.
And so…
Man: …I accept You in my life. …
Chellappa: By the way, what were you doing up in this tree out in the boonies in the middle of the night?
Man: I was so very sad. I was trying to get away from life.
Chellappa: Oh … now I understand. Thank You, wonderful Jesus!
