Name means: Pure
Did you know? Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector, a profession that was looked down on by his fellow countrymen.
Startling facts: Picture this: A huge crowd has gathered to hear Jesus. Zacchaeus knows there’s no way he’ll get a look at Jesus—he’s too short. But he doesn’t want to miss out on this opportunity. So, he climbs a tree to catch a glimpse of this man everyone’s talking about.
When Jesus approaches, He sees Zacchaeus perched in the tree, and calls Zacchaeus by name. “Zacchaeus,” He says, “I’d like to stay at your house.” Read the full story in Luke 19:1–10.
Coolest trait: Zacchaeus found a way to overcome his lack of height in order to see Jesus. But what’s more, after meeting Jesus, Zacchaeus decided to give half of his wealth to the poor.
