Name means: "God is salvation"
AKA: “Hoshea”
Did you know? Appointed by Moses to lead the Israelites after his death, Joshua was a warrior-leader who led his people through many battles and obstacles to claim the land God had promised the Israelites. In the heat of battle against a fierce enemy, Joshua asked God to stop the sun and moon so that the Israelite army might win the battle in daylight—to prevent the enemy from escaping during the cover of night. God answered! And, “There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a man.”1
Coolest trait: When God told Joshua, "I am with you as I was with Moses,”2 Joshua believed every word of that promise. God went on to part the River Jordan for Joshua, similar to how He had parted the Red Sea for Moses. He also gave Joshua detailed instructions on how to bring down the walls of the great city of Jericho, which worked when Joshua followed them.
You can too: Act on your belief in a mighty God who is always with you.
