Heroes of the Bible: Abraham

Name means: “Father of many”

AKA: “Abram”

Coolest trait: If someone were to ask you to show your faith in them by doing the most outrageous thing imaginable, would you? What if you thought God was asking you to give Him your most precious possession? Read about Abraham’s ultimate step of faith in Genesis 22:1–18.

Did you know? At one point in his life, things weren’t looking good for Abraham—childless, and facing eviction from the land that he had lived in for many years, God told him, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them. … So shall your offspring be" (Genesis 15:5 NIV). In this same conversation with God, God also promised Canaan (aka the Promised Land) to Abraham’s descendants. Abraham held God to His promises, and today, Abraham is considered to be the father of two nations.

You can too: Believe in God’s promises to you, for they will always come to pass.
