One time, Jesus went to a mountainside to talk to the crowd that followed Him. Jesus taught them a list of blessings that are often referred to as “the Beatitudes.” He talked about principles for living a godly life, how to manifest love, and the importance of forgiveness. He explained about God’s care for His children and the importance of obeying His teachings.
On this same occasion, Jesus taught a prayer known today as “The Lord’s Prayer.” This is a beautiful prayer that is prayed by people all around the world to this day.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (KJV)
You can read the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7, and about the Beatitudes here. “The Lord’s Prayer” is found in Matthew 6:9–13 and Luke 11:2–4.
