Shepherd Boy
Wednesday, June 22, 2022

A few hundred years after the people of Israel settled in the Promised Land, there was a shepherd boy named David who loved to play music on his harp when he watched over his sheep. David loved God very much and wrote many beautiful songs about God and His people.

Have you heard any of David’s songs? Maybe you know this one. It’s called Psalm 23. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”1

David’s songs make us feel safe and close to God.

*

Verse 1
Strumming, humming as he watches sheep,
David singing melodies so sweet,
Playing his harp, he lifts his voice so high,
Praising God under the bright blue sky.

Chorus
Shepherd boy, your music makes the birdies sing.
Oh, shepherd boy, your songs come right from your heart.

Verse 2
Thanking God for the beautiful day,
David kneels upon the grass to pray.
Playing his harp he lifts his voice so high,
Praising God under the bright blue sky.

Repeat Chorus

Your songs come right from your heart.
