One time when Jesus and His disciples were walking to Galilee, they passed through the region of Samaria and stopped in the town of Sychar. While the disciples went into the town to buy food, Jesus sat by a well to rest. When a local woman came to draw water from the well, Jesus talked with her and told her things about herself and her life that a stranger would have no way of knowing.

Jesus explained to her that God is Spirit, and how anyone can worship Him wherever they are.

When He told the woman that He was the long-awaited Messiah, she was so excited that she ran back to the town to call others to hear Jesus speak, and many did.
