Do you sometimes wonder if God is hearing your prayers?
The Bible tells us that when we pray for good things, God hears us. “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.”1
So how do we know if our prayer is pleasing God? If it’s a prayer for something good for you or other people, then that’s a type of prayer that will please Him.
We also learn from the Bible that when we are doing things that are right and good, God listens to our prayers. “The Lord watches over those who do what is right, and he listens to their prayers.”2
The opposite of doing the right thing is when we’re doing something that is unkind or selfish; then we can’t count on God answering our prayers. For example, if we’re praying to find a way to take something that belongs to another person, that isn’t right because it is stealing. If we were to pray for that, God wouldn’t listen to that prayer. But if we prayed for God to provide something good for ourselves or someone else, God will listen to that prayer, and then He will answer according to what is best for the situation.
God loves each one of us, and He loves to hear our prayers and to answer them!
