Faith-Filled Models from the New Testament: Mary and Joseph

The true story of Christmas involves several faith-filled models!

Mary and Joseph manifested great faith in God by accepting the responsibility of being parents to Jesus, God’s Son.

The angel told Mary that she would have a baby who was not from an earthly father, but from God. Mary showed faith when she answered the angel:

Mary: Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to thy word.1

Joseph had worried how people would perceive Mary being pregnant before their marriage. But after the angel explained how important the baby was, Joseph, full of faith, took excellent care of Mary and her baby.

Angel: Joseph, take Mary as your wife and help her raise the child that she will have. The baby is God’s son.

Later when the king sent soldiers to Bethlehem to find and kill the Christ child, Joseph was warned beforehand in a dream. Joseph showed his faith in God by getting out of bed and taking Mary and the child Jesus to safety in Egypt.

Angel: Get up! Take the child and his mother into Egypt!
