“Look to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4, paraphrased).
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10 ESV).
Recall a time when you saw a mechanic fixing your parent’s car or a plumber repairing an essential household appliance such as the water heater.
Manifest your gratitude:
Prayer for gratitude:
Jesus, my parents and others help keep things working that I sometimes take for granted. There are cars to ride in, washing machines for clean clothes, vacuum cleaners for clean floors, computers for knowledge and communication, hot water for bathing, and other conveniences. Please help me manifest appreciation to my parents and others for the work they do to keep things working, reminding me to thank them and helping me to do my part to take care of these useful tools.
Prayer of gratitude:
Dear Jesus, today ____ (name of mechanic, handyman, or technician) is fixing ____ (article being repaired). Give them the wisdom needed for doing the repairs, and give them the satisfaction of knowing they are helping others and are appreciated for their work.
