Based on Mark 12:28–34.

A teacher of the law asked Jesus, “Which of the commandments is the most important?”

Jesus answered, “The most important one is this: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.’ The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that’s more important than these two.”

The teacher of the law then said, “Well done, teacher. These two commandments are much more than any offers made on the altar of sacrifices to God.”

Jesus told him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”

After this, no one dared to ask Jesus any more questions.
