A Letter to Jesus
Monday, December 18, 2017

Have you received a birthday card or letter from a friend or someone in your family? It probably made you happy to know that person thought of you on your special day.

As Christmas is Jesus’ birthday, why not write a letter to Jesus? Tell Jesus what you would like to give Him this Christmas. You might wonder, what would make Jesus happy? Jesus once told His disciples that loving God and loving others are the greatest things people can do.1 These are the types of gifts that bring Jesus the greatest joy!

You show your love to Jesus by following the things His Word tells you to do—to be diligent, to be truthful, to obey your parents, and to show your thankfulness. And you show your love for others through caring acts, kind words, and a helping hand.

In your letter to Jesus, you can tell Him the things you love about your friendship with Him, and what you enjoy about reading God’s Word. If there is something you want to do better in, like following through on instructions, being a better friend to others, or learning a new skill, you can write that down too.

For example, you could write, “Jesus, this year I really want to be nicer to my little brother. Please help me to be more like You.”

Tell Jesus all about the gifts of love for Him and others that you’d like to give Him this year in this special birthday message from you to Him! Then do your best to remember those things. Every day look for some way to be a kinder, happier, more caring person—someone who is a little more like Jesus!
